We are offering a class about “Learning to Care successfully for people living with dementia”
We require two more people for the class to be offered this semester . The info is below and we would love it if you could share it with a friend or family member who might benefit from learning more about caring for a person living with dementia.

Class Schedule: April 11,18, 25 and May 2 from 5:30 -8:30 and a practicum at the Dare County Center TBD
Cost $85.00 includes workbook
Instructor: Gail Sonnesso, MS, Q.D.C.S.
Target Audience: Family caregivers, community friends, professional caregivers, Social workers, Ministers, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, respite care providers and church outreach teams
Gail Sonnesso will provide an overview of the different dementias, typical stages of the disease and treatment strategies emphasizing the benefits of person-centered care and a structured day to address behavioral issues.
Emphasis is placed on caring for people with dementia living in the community and information about existing supports and services. Learn what to say when your client/family member says “I want to go home!” You will master techniques to prevent “wandering.” Achieve a better understanding of the disease and design days to meet both your best interests while providing the best care for the person with dementia.
Students completing this class will receive 1.5 continuing educations at COA and 12.0 CEU’s applicable to Assisted Living requirements.
