Become a Qualified Dementia Care Provider

GEM and the Alzheimer's foundation of America are offering a workshop on
Saturday May 11th at the College of the Albemarle, Manteo Campus.

Family caregivers, community friends and healthcare professionals will gain
insight about caring for a person with dementia from this training. It also
provides an overview of the various formats used to present this material in
an engaging and easy-to-understand manner. Learn how Alzheimer's disease
affects the brain, hear tips from healthcare professionals, watch how
"Clueless Clara" and "Smart Sandy" manage behavioral problems, plus much
more!

**Dare County Center NUTRITION PROGRAM

The nutrition program's purpose is to promote, maintain, and improve the health and well-being of adults 60 years old and older through the provision of a nutritionally balanced meal five days per week served in a congregate setting or delivered to the home. Meals are served at the Dare County Center Monday-Friday, except holidays. There is no charge for meals to clients, but we accept donations as the meals cost over $5.00 each and are paid for by Dare County and the Albemarle Commission. This also allows us to serve more people. Remember to sign up 48 hours in advance or if you are on the list and if you can't make it please cancel 48 hours in advance.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            For more information or to sign up for this program please contact the Nutrition Site Coordinator, Gigi Sanchez at 475-9279.
